The Problem
The Problem
Pet care is scattered. Owners juggle vet portals, notes apps, reminders, and photo albums. Things slip—missed vaccines, forgotten meds, no single history—and there’s little motivation to keep up day after day.
As a lifelong dog person caring for a senior pet, I felt this firsthand: tracking treatments, sharing context with family, and keeping a routine going was harder than it should be.
That personal pain became the bar for Bro: make pet care reliable, easy, and rewarding.

Research & Insights
Research & Insights
I started with stakeholder workshops to define the problem and sharpen scope. We mapped pain points, aligned on outcomes, and agreed on KPIs for the MVP.
From there, I layered in user research:
Interviews + diary studies: surfaced issues with forgotten meds, inconsistent activities, and lack of coordination across family members.
Competitive scan: PetDesk (reminders), Pawtrack (tracking), Fitbit (habits). None combined health + activity + rewards into one coherent flow.
Early usability tests: validated that quick setup and early “wins” (like logging a first reminder and earning points) built trust and momentum.

Seamless Onboarding
Seamless Onboarding
First impressions matter. I designed a warm, engaging onboarding flow that:
Explains Bro’s core benefits upfront
Allows quick pet registration (name, breed, health info)
Introduces the rewards system early (motivating first actions)

Activity Tracking
Activity Tracking
Each pet has a personalized activity plan, tailored to promote a healthy lifestyle.
Daily activities vary based on the pet’s needs—one day it might be a walk, the next could be training or playtime.
This approach keeps the experience fresh and promotes consistent engagement, encouraging users to build healthy habits for their pets over time and earn BroCash rewards for completing activities.

Validation & Feedback
Validation & Feedback
We tested prototypes with pet owners before moving into development. The feedback was consistent:
Health Hub: Users loved having all tasks and history in one place. It gave them confidence.
Streaks: Short, achievable streaks felt motivating and encouraged daily use.
Reminders: Owners appreciated reminders that respected real life—snooze windows and roll-forward logic felt humane.
Rewards: Framing points as a “thank you for good care” felt genuine and trustworthy.
On the team side, developers told us the design system sped up implementation because they weren’t second-guessing design decisions or dealing with inconsistent specs.

My Ownership & Growth
My Ownership & Growth
This project stretched me in three directions at once:
Strategic: I facilitated workshops that aligned stakeholders on scope, outcomes, and KPIs.
Craft: I led end-to-end product design, from research to final UI, while ensuring quality handoff.
Leadership: I mentored a junior designer, giving them concrete ownership of components and flows, while ensuring consistency across the system.
The biggest takeaway was that I wasn’t just designing screens—I was designing a product that could grow. I moved from being purely executional to shaping vision, outcomes, and systems.
